Be firm and direct

Avoid using the word ‘if’, be direct and firm while instructing your child to do something.

“If you complete your homework I will let you play for an hour”, you say that often right? Well, rewards are a good motivation but you should try to avoid uncertain statements. Be firm and gentle when you ask your child to do something. A child gets in the habit of always getting an added advantage on completion of the task. He/she should know that not everything comes with a bonus and the work that is important has to be done on time!
